Queens Of The Stone Age - Live at the Wilthern Theatre, Los Angeles (5/23/13)
QOTSA have premiered a lot of new tracks from the upcoming ‘… Like Clockwork’ album in LA last thursday 5/23. The new album promises to be more dark, a bit less accessible … but badass as always. I really like the slower songs, ‘The vampyre of time and memory’ (with Josh Homme on piano!) and ‘Kalopsia’.
You can watch the entire show at qotsa.com

Acoustic sets by Kurt Vile and Iron & Wine
The people of Spin have two acoustic shows made available for streaming which are really pleasant … the first one is by Kurt Vile (photo), who made an essential, timeless guitar record this year : Wakin’ on a pretty daze. The second one is by Sam Beam from the mighty Iron & Wine. Beautiful stuff that makes you forget about the rainy weather (or at least just a little bit)

Roland & Mauro - Raised like a dog (live @ De Centrale, Gent)
Belgian blues legend Roland Van Campenhout has teamed up with Mauro Pawlowski (of dEUS’ fame, and a zillion of other musical projects) for his new album ‘New found sacred ground’. ‘Raised like a dog’ is a rendition of the opening song on that album.
In the band you might also recognize Alan Gevaert (bass player in dEUS and Trixie Whitley’s band), the young and promising Reena Riot, and long time Pawlowski collaborators Jeroen Stevens and Elko Blyweert.

Mark Lanegan & Duke Garwood - Pentecostal
A new month, a new Mark Lanegan collaboration. This time the man with the rasp voice has teamed up with multi-instrumentalist Duke Garwood, who has made a very good impression as a support for the Mark Lanegan Band in the past … there’s an album coming up: ‘Black pudding’ will hit stores soon and ‘Pentecostal’ can be found online allready.

David Lemaitre - Magnolia (live for TV Noir)
The debut album ‘Latitude’ is one of my favourites right now, and this is a brilliant live version of ‘Magnolia’ … sedate but really intense.
