Buddhist monks pay incredible tribute to Beastie Boy MCA

This outrageous dance was used to promote MCA Day in Brooklyn (NY), an annual tribute to Beastie Boy Adam “MCA” Yauch, who passed away May 4, 2012 at the age of 47. Ch-ch-check it out!

Röyksopp & Robyn - Do it again (lyric video)

Both Scandinavian acts had successful collaborations in the past, and this summer they will tour together (Pukkelpop in Belgium in on their schedule). ‘Do it again’ is a new song, which will feature on a upcoming EP. An official video is in the making, but for now this will do just fine!

'Do it again' seems to be more typical for Robyn and I honestly don't really feel the Röyksopp connection in this one. It sounds more like something that could have been on Robyn's hit album 'Body talk' … but hey, wasn't that a great LP?

Royal Blood - Live at Eurosonic, Groningen (NL)
Already featured in BBC’s Sound of 2014, this dynamic Brighton based duo is destined to make a big step soon … Singer and bass player Mike Kerr is playing is instrument as a real guitar and Ben Thatcher seems to almost fall off his stool every time he hits the drum. Together they make a lot of catchy noise, similar to what The White Stripes, The Black Keys or Wolfmother did or still do.
Royal Blood will play twice as support act for two big Arctic Monkeys shows soon, a connection we totally get … Enjoy this show they did at showcase festival Eurosonic in the Dutch city of Groningen earlier this year.

Damon Albarn - Mr Tembo (@ Jimmy Kimmel live)

The greatly anticipated solo album of Damon Albarn called ‘Everyday Robots’ was released this week, and for now this song is my personal favourite. You can tell that the Blur singer and Gorillaz key member has only recently started performing this live (the crowd is also very lame, by the way), but this song will certainly grow on you …

New Spotify playlist: Call it spring, call it summer
For your ears I compiled a new playlist on Spotify featuring some of the best stuff released in 2014 so far, and as usual I threw in some genuine classics as well. Be prepared for Howler, The Rolling Stones, Eagulls, St.Vincent, Neneh Cherry, Johnny Cash and many more.

Beck - Blue moon (Jimmy Kimmel Live)

Live performance of this track off ‘Morning phase’, one of the most beautiful albums that were released this season.

Black Cassette - Distant call (Official video)

This is the first single of the album ‘Circo’. Black Cassette is a Antwerp based band, with Sjoerd Bruil (a long time Mauro Pawlowski collaborator, and guitar player in Dez Mona, Broken Glass Heroes and Sukilove) on vocals. To my big surprise, there is a lot of electronica to be heard on ‘Circo’.

I very much enjoy this first song called ‘Distant call’, which is blessed with a wonderful DIY-video- featuring a reincarnation of the king of pop - shot by Gregory Frateur (Dez Mona) and Tijs Delbeke (Sir Yes Sir). Check it, please …

Kelis - Jerk Ribs (official video)

She’s no longer R’nB’s drama queen who likes to be a bit provocative at times, nor does she flirt with dance … in 2014 Kelis delivers her most soulful record up to date called ‘Food’, which might be as surprising as her transfer to Ninja Tune Records a few months ago. ‘Jerk ribs’ is the first official video, and I like it …

Mélanie De Biasio - Live for Deezer Sessions

Sunday morning is a great time to discover this French speaking Belgian jazz singer who is slowly gaining territory in the northern part of our strange country as well. This is jazz with tons of soul … her album ‘No deal’ was already out in Belgium and France, but it recently got released globally. The DMM truly recommends this!

The War On Drugs - Live on KEXP

This band has probably made the one record that will be hard to beat in 2014. It is named ‘Lost in the dream’ and bathes in americana with a classic 80’s rock mood. Adam Granduciel is the name of the singer and band leader, that you need to remember … Don’t miss out on this full performance they did on KEXP Radio!
